Tonight, temperatures will drop significantly and will feel like the single digits with wind chill. For the thousands of DC residents sleeping outside, freezing cold nights are dangerous, scary and painful. For advocates, nights like this remind us that ending homelessness is extremely urgent and exceedingly possible.
Below are 3 things you can do during a cold weather emergency.
1) Program the DC Hypothermia Hotline Number into your phone: (202) 399-7093
If you see somebody staying outside, express concern and offer to call this number. The Hypothermia Hotline can transport people to shelter or bring them blankets
2) Advocate with us to end homelessness.
We can end chronic homelessness in DC, but we need your help. To get more involved and to sign up for our action alerts, please fill out this form.
3) Tweet at Mayor Bowser
